Different Styles of Pants

At Mawa Hangers, we sell a variety of different hangers to keep your jackets, shirts, skirt, suits, and pants looking as good as new. While it may seem like pants hangers are all the same, this is not the case - we have different pants hangers for different styles of pants. It may also seem like pants are pants, but this is also not the case. Just like our pants hangers, there are a variety of different pants, too.

Both men and women wear pants and they are all cut differently. Men’s pants do not have extra room for hips, but women’s pants need to have extra room for hips. Men have fewer options than women have, but they still have a large amount of pants to choose from. Both men and women wear jeans, but there are several other types of pants that are better suited to male or female bodies.

These are the styles for men:

Pleated Pants: This style of pants have a pair of pleats under the waistband for a dressy feel. Men often wear pleated pants in different fabrics, like wool, gabardine, and cotton to work. Usually tuxedo pants and other dressy styles are pleated.

Flat Front Pants: This is a more casual style of pants for men. They are also very flattering on men who have fit and have flat stomachs. They look sporty and modern.

Khaki Pants: These come in both pleated and flat-front styles, but the khaki style is very casual and many men wear these in lieu of jeans. They are a great choice for a casual Friday look. They are usually made of cotton, so they are soft and easy to wash and wear. Some of the most popular khaki pants are made in wrinkle-free fabrics.

Cargo Pants: These are casual pants that are loaded with pockets. They are usually made of cotton, but with a thicker, more durable weave. Men who spend time outside usually wear cargo pants and many times they are made with camo-fabric for sportsmen.

These are some of the pants styles for women:

Capri Pants: These are a popular for warm weather because they usually end somewhere below the knee and above the ankle. They come in a variety of different fabrics, like denim, stretch, cotton, and more.

Yoga Pants: Yoga pants have taken the place of sweatpants. These are the go-to style for women who love to exercise and be comfortable. They usually have a flat or rolled waistband for comfort. They are also usually made of a synthetic fabric with stretch so they hug the thighs, too.

Trousers: These are dress-pants for women. They usually come in wool, cotton, and other high-end fabrics so that women can wear them to work and look professional.

Leggings: This is another style of pants that are unique to women. Leggings are always made of a fabric with added stretch so they hug the body. They usually have an elastic waistband. Leggings are often worn instead of tights or hosiery, especially when the weather gets chilly.

Smart Organizing

In too many homes, closet spaces are messy spaces. People of all ages simply throw things in and shut the door. Sadly, when these people need to find things that they need, they have several challenges because of their unorganized spaces. With a few simple ideas, you can easily organize you home and make your life a little easier to live. These are a few simple secrets to making organization a regular part of your life:

1.    Pick your favorite music. When you set your mind to get down to business, it is important to have your favorite music playing in the background. Whether you rock your music on your home stereo or you plug into you iPod headphones, great music will help you get organized with soul.

2.    Buy bins. Buying bins makes it much easier to put away the things that you want to use, but at a different time. If you have bins with your seasonal decorations or with kitchen gear that you do not use on a regular basis, you will have a place to put those things so you can find them when you need them. Red and green bins denote Christmas and orange bins work for Halloween. Make it easy for yourself.

3.    Use what you have. Smart decorators use what they have, but they rotate it. With your bins, put away items that you have had out for a while, then take out the older pieces you have not seen in a while. Your home will feel updated and less cluttered because you have places to put everything.

4.    Clean your cabinets. Your kitchen probably gets a lot of use – because most kitchens do. So, at least twice per year (use the summer and winter solstice as your guides), clean out your cabinets. Set a time frame, like one year or five years or somewhere in between; if you have not used an item in the time frame you chose, it is time to donate the item.

5.    Clean out your closets. Also, at least twice per year, clean out your closets. If you have clothes that you have not worn in at least one year, it is time to get rid of it. If you have items that need repair and you know you will never get to it, get rid of them. Make room so you can add new pieces that are exciting to you.

6.    Buy drawer dividers. The junk draw is no longer a popular draw to have. If you have good quality draw dividers, you can easily organize your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom drawers. Organization might take a little bit of work upfront, but once you have the upfront work finished, your life will be much easier to manage.

7.    Color-code your clothing. When you hang your clothing, organize it by color. This way you will be able to find the black top that you want to go with the pink jeans without having to hunt.

8.    Use categories. Anytime that you can organize items by a category, you will have an easier time finding them in the future. Categories can be as simply as a color, a size, or a shape.

Design a Great Closet

Just like every man deserves a perfect man cave, every woman deserves a well-designed, perfect closet. When women spend time buying amazing clothes, amassing envious shoe collections, and gathering a treasure of accessories, women need to have a perfectly designed closet to house those fashionable prizes. There are a few simple necessities for every perfect closet.

Hanging Items

Women with perfect closets need to have design elements that fit the clothes she has. Women need long cabinets that give her dresses room to breathe and swing on the hangers. Dresses that have to hang from short bars get wrinkled very quickly. When closets are packed full, the clothes can become wrinkled and women have difficulty finding pieces.

Glass Cabinets

Some of the most amazing walk in closets have been designed with a series of tall cabinets with glass doors. This allows women to store complete outfits, with clothes hanging, accessories on a shelf, and shoes on the bottom. The glass doors allow the woman to see exactly what is inside. The easy to see clothes also give women the opportunity to create new ensembles to keep the wardrobe fresh.

Folding and Stacking

It is equally important to fold the clothes that should not be hung up. Sweaters need to be folded so that they do not lose their shape. Many closet organizing companies sell stackable pieces that keep sweaters nicely organized. They should have room to breathe, too, so it is best to keep them out of plastic bins. In the perfect walk-in closet, there are cabinets designed specifically for sweaters.

Accessories in Their Places

Accessories are often the most challenging items for women to store in their closets. Most women do not have perfect closets, so they often forget about scarves, handbags, or other items that they loved at one point in time. The perfect closet has drawers that allow women to neatly organize accessories so they can be viewed quickly. These drawers should be at waist height or lower so women can look down and choose a piece at a glance. Many closet organizers have drawer organizers that help women keep their bras, panties, scarves, handbags, and other accessories in their own designated compartments.

Jewelry Armoires

There are a few other accessories that every perfect walk-in closet should have. Every perfect closet needs to have a jewelry armoire, with drawers, cabinets, and hangers for her jewelry. The drawers should be lined with fabric and have individual places for each ring, pair of earrings, and pin. The cabinets should have pegs for necklaces to keep them from getting tangled. Too many women have jewelry that gets lost, tangled, or scratched because of poorly organized jewelry drawers or tabletops.

Mirrors and Good Lighting

One last item that every closet needs is a full-length mirror. This mirror should be in the closet so that she can quickly see how she looks before even needing to leave the closet. The mirror should have proper lighting so that colors appear natural. It is unfortunate when a woman thinks her black clothing matches, because her lighting is not good enough to show this in her closet.

It is not difficult to design a perfect closet when you know what makes a closet perfect.

The History of the Hanger

At MawaHangers.com, our goal is to help you create and maintain a well-organized closet. In order to do so, you need appropriate clothing hangers for the items that fill your closets. Even though they play such a minor role in our lives, clothes hangers do have a rather interesting history.

One of the most creative and prolific inventors in the United States is frequently credited with inventing the predecessor of the modern clothes hanger. It is rumored that Thomas Jefferson invented a wooden hanger for his clothes. While it is difficult to prove whether or not Jefferson really did invent the first hanger, the invention of the wire coat hanger has been credited to three men, all American. O.A. North from Connecticut, Albert J. Parkhouse from Michigan, and Christopher Cann from Boston have all be given credit for creating the wire hanger between the years of 1869 and 1876.

We have come to expect that clothes will be hanging on racks when we visit our favorite stores, but the first man to actually display his tailoring work on hangers was a man named Meyer May from Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1906. This man was so stylish he even lived in a house designed by the most stylish architect of the day: Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is open for tours and those first hangers are hanging inside of the home in Grand Rapids for visitors to see.

Later, two more men made their mark on the clothes hangers as we know them today. If it were not for Schuyler C. Hulett and Elmer D. Rogers between 1932 and 1935, we would not have cardboard covers to protect clothes from wrinkles. Imagine what the dry cleaning industry would be like without wire hangers with coated cardboard on the lower bars.

Clothes hangers have continued to change over the years and they are continually made in a variety of materials. Today’s popular hangers are made of all different materials, to help keep clothes from wrinkling as much and staying on the hanger better. Some hangers are coated in fabrics, like satin, to keep fine fabrics looking their best. Hangers have become more specialized for heavier clothes and for finer pieces with slight straps.

Hangers have also been used in a variety of non-traditional ways. Since wire hangers are so easy to shape, they are often used to open car doors. They are also occasionally used for car radio antennas. In a pinch, welders can turn to wire coat hangers to supply the metal for welding. They are also used in do-it-yourself projects from bird cages to hanging bed canopies. They are also frequently used to roast marshmallows and hotdogs at campfires.

Interestingly, hangers have also become a bit of a collectors’ item. Hangers that have good markings and the proper features can fetch a nice amount of money when they are sold at auction.

Hangers and Your Inner-crafter

When you are ready to add Mawahangers to your closet, you will need to do something with all of those old wire hangers.  Fortunately, wire hangers are made of flexible wire, so they can easily be used for variety of projects. You do not have to be a professional crafter to reuse your wire hangers, but instead of throwing them into your local landfill, channel your inner-crafter and upcycle the hangers.

Wreath Forms

Instead of buying wreath forms out of Styrofoam or out of expensive new wire, you can easily use your wire hangers. To make them into perfect circles, you simply need to use a basketball or soccer ball as your form. Then, all you need to do is attach ribbons, artificial flowers, or holiday ornaments. Your wreath collection can expand significantly, while your wallet stays full.

Hanger Gifts

This might sound a bit crazy, but you can give your hangers away as gifts! No one wants to receive a bag full of used wire hangers, but if you take the time to cover them with yarn or padded satin, they will be appreciated by the recipients. You can easily find patterns to cover wire hangers or design your very own. Uncovered wire hangers do cause all of those pointy shoulders, but covered ones do not.

Gardening Labels

Wire hangers can be used in the garden. If you have a pair of wire cutters, all you need to do is cut off the ends, put a label on them, and stick them in the garden as a label holder. You will be able to keep track of all of your garden plants without having to buy specialized garden tags.

Cone Container

Another unique way to upcycle your wire hangers is to make a cone-shaped container. This container looks like something that could hold an ice cream cone, but it is a bit bigger in diameter. Again, wire tools make it easier to spin the wire around a form. You can also use wire cutters to remove any unwanted pieces from the hanger.

Miscellaneous Items

Wire hangers can also be used for simple things that most people would not imagine. If you have a belt that is too long, you can cut a piece of wire off of the hanger and wrap it around your belt to keep the strap from flopping. Hangers also make great plate holders for your displays. You can also use wire hangers to hang up small objects. With a pair of magnets, you can make a card hanger. You can also use a wire hanger to hang photos, calendars, or anything else that needs a place on the wall.
