Hangers and Your Inner-crafter

When you are ready to add Mawahangers to your closet, you will need to do something with all of those old wire hangers.  Fortunately, wire hangers are made of flexible wire, so they can easily be used for variety of projects. You do not have to be a professional crafter to reuse your wire hangers, but instead of throwing them into your local landfill, channel your inner-crafter and upcycle the hangers.

Wreath Forms

Instead of buying wreath forms out of Styrofoam or out of expensive new wire, you can easily use your wire hangers. To make them into perfect circles, you simply need to use a basketball or soccer ball as your form. Then, all you need to do is attach ribbons, artificial flowers, or holiday ornaments. Your wreath collection can expand significantly, while your wallet stays full.

Hanger Gifts

This might sound a bit crazy, but you can give your hangers away as gifts! No one wants to receive a bag full of used wire hangers, but if you take the time to cover them with yarn or padded satin, they will be appreciated by the recipients. You can easily find patterns to cover wire hangers or design your very own. Uncovered wire hangers do cause all of those pointy shoulders, but covered ones do not.

Gardening Labels

Wire hangers can be used in the garden. If you have a pair of wire cutters, all you need to do is cut off the ends, put a label on them, and stick them in the garden as a label holder. You will be able to keep track of all of your garden plants without having to buy specialized garden tags.

Cone Container

Another unique way to upcycle your wire hangers is to make a cone-shaped container. This container looks like something that could hold an ice cream cone, but it is a bit bigger in diameter. Again, wire tools make it easier to spin the wire around a form. You can also use wire cutters to remove any unwanted pieces from the hanger.

Miscellaneous Items

Wire hangers can also be used for simple things that most people would not imagine. If you have a belt that is too long, you can cut a piece of wire off of the hanger and wrap it around your belt to keep the strap from flopping. Hangers also make great plate holders for your displays. You can also use wire hangers to hang up small objects. With a pair of magnets, you can make a card hanger. You can also use a wire hanger to hang photos, calendars, or anything else that needs a place on the wall.
